Good Deeds

A Samaritan tries to meet the needs of others, either individually or in small groups, by doing good deeds. Good Citizenship can be measured by ones efforts to give back to their community.

We hope to set an example of service to follow. Our good deeds are meant to encourage others to find something that they are passionate about - And we challenge you to go get active with it!

The Good Samaritan Bible Story

But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that showed mercy on him.

Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Luke x, 29-37.

2011 - Dollars for Detric

A heartfelt Thank You to the 2011 Samaritan Riders...

And our 2nd Annual Good SAM Riders

DOLLARS FOR DETRIC

Detric is an 8 year old Manson boy. He was diagnosed with both Grade IV Lymphoma and Leukemia. We are told that the prognosis for these cancers is good and so are his chances for a full recovery. He is now in "remission" - but the reality of his situation is that he requires another 3-5 years of frequent evaluations and cancer prevention treatments at Children's Hospital in Seattle. He celebrated his1 year remission party August 20, 2011. Dollars for Detric will help pay for his cancer treatments, travel to and from Seattle and lodging. Throughout the 2011 ride season, SROWA in partnership with many other artists and businesses were able to raise >$9,500 in donations on his behalf.

These are the events we have planned for his horizons (Thank you Gary Myers of KOZI Radio):

This is his story straight from his mother, Colette:

2009 - Sweet Miracle Cure for Baby Rinney

2009 FOUNDING MEMBERS and SOME OF OUR ORIGINALS

Sweet Miracle Cure for Baby Rinney

Rinney is the sweetest baby you will ever meet; however she was born with a condition called SOD (Septo-optic dysplasia). Her optic nerves are severely underdeveloped, as are her pituitary and hypothalamus glands. She is blind, has diabetes insipidous and suffers from seizures. Beike Biotech, based in China, has had great success treating children with her condition. SROWA placed collection jars throughout Okanogan and Chelan Counties and raised $ 4,100.00 in cash donation for baby Rinney.

2009 Sweet Miracle Contributors:

The SAMARITANS of Washington would like to express our sincerest, awe-struck appreciation and deepest gratitude to the Lake Chelan Lions Club for their donation of $1,000.00 to the Sweet Miracle Foundation. They have also expressed their intention to petition to Lions Club National to beat or meet their pledge and challenge other Washington Lions Clubs to do the same. They truly are the Knights for the Blind.

SROWA also wishes to thank the local businesses for allowing us to place collection cans in their establishment. Without their continued cooperation and support of the SAMARITAN Riders and our mission to lend a hand, we would have been left disadvantaged in our fundraising efforts on behalf of the Sweet Miracle Foundations' search for a cure for Rinney.

SROWA RESPECTS to the American Legion Riders of Wenatchee in their efforts to raise an additional $1,200.00 on behalf of Rinney and the Sweet Foundation during their August 29th Charity Ride to Pasco and back. Together, with the nearly $4,100.00 we have raised in the 2009 ride season - The Sweet Foundation has nearly met their $6,000.00 goal to get Rinney into her stem-cell treatment program.

2009 Relay for Life Contributors:

The SAMARITAN Riders wish to thank the following contributors to our Relay for Life Cancer Awareness and Fundraising campaign. The total funds solicited on behalf of the American Cancer Society's Annual Relay for Life was $322.00.
